On 18th June 4 of our Year 6 students represented St Philips at the Good Shepherd celebration held at Worth Abbey. This is a celebration of Catholic education in the diocese and is an important part of our school calendar.
Year One have been learning about The Gambia as part of their Globetrotters topic. When Mrs Bridges visited The Gambia during the Easter holidays, one of the schools she visited wrote letters to the children at St Philips. The St Philips children then wrote a reply and they were posted. Mansa-Colley Bojang School then emailed a photo to let us know they had received the letters. We are hoping to create links so that old library books can be sent out to the school so they can build their own library.
As part of ‘Green Week’ Stagecoach bus company bought one of their double decker buses to school. Following an assembly looking at ‘green’ issues and how catching a bus is more environmentally friendly than using the car, all the children had a chance to have a good look round the bus, sitting in the drivers seat and the coveted back row!
