Locality Goblin Kit Car

Last Saturday, children from Years 5 and 6 took part in the Locality Goblin Kit Car event held at River Beach School. Lots of the children were able to race the cars and they had a great deal of support from parents and family members. We came away with a 1st place trophy!

Year 2 Science Enrichment Day

Swimming Gala

On Friday, the children in Year 3,4,5 and 6 took part in our annual Swimming Gala at The Lido. Year 1 and 2 came down as spectators. The children competed in a range of different races with all abilities taking part. They raced in their houses with Brotherton as the overall winners. Thank you to the parents who helped to walk the children down to the Lido and well done to the children for their good behaviour and great team spirit!

Eco Assembly

Earlier this week, the school took part in an Eco Assembly. We talked about the 17 goals – the UN’s 17 point plan to save the planet. Children shared their presentations about the goals and we talked about how we all have a global responsibility to care for our planet. This links in with the current theme that we are learning about in RE this term.

Guitar Concert

On Tuesday evening, many of the guitarists in our school took part in the annual Celebration of Guitar.  Christian Nunnikhoven, our peripatetic guitar teacher, teaches children ranging from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6. The guitarists were joined by their families, school staff and governors where they performed a range of songs including classical pieces and songs from the charts. It was a lovely experience for the children to get the chance to perform in front of such a large crowd and all of the children did extremely well.

French Day

A French theatre company came into school and carried out a workshop with each class. The people running the workshop mentioned that they were particularly impressed with the behaviour of Years 5 & 6. All of the children really enjoyed the day with Year 6 and the friends hosting a ‘Saint Philippe Cafe’ at the end of the day for parents. Merci to the friends for paying for this event!
