All of the children in Key Stage Two were asked to design a play park for a green space in Arundel. Our school submitted all of the entries and Daisy’s in Year 5 was chosen as the winner. On Thursday, she was invited to an award ceremony at Arundel Town Hall and was awarded a cup for her design which was presented to her by the town Mayor.
Today, all children in the school were lucky enough to take part in a Bollywood Dance Workshop run by an independent dance choreographer. The children really enjoyed listening to the music and learning the Bollywood moves as well as learning about dance from different cultures.
The children and families of St Philip’s have outdone themselves again this year with their kind donations of ‘Love in a Box’. We have given 51 boxes in total!
Schools, churches, other organisations and individuals collect and pack items into shoeboxes for us to send to under privileged children throughout Eastern Europe. The Love in a Box organisation have sent on average 40,000 boxes each year and each one is individually received by a child.
Thank you to everyone who made a box with some families making more than one box!
On Friday, some children from our school took part in the Arun Young Musicians Festival. Our children received a Gold medal and commendation and Alice in Year 5 also sang solo pieces and was also awarded gold and commendation for her individual application.
On Monday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Pastor Hugo. Hugo is from Yapton Free Church and came in to deliver an assembly. He bought his guitar and sang lots of exciting songs with the children including fun actions! He also did a fun activity where the children had to learn a Bible verse and put the words in the correct order. The children were very well behaved and enjoyed Hugo’s visit very much!
